"The One Cottage Street Studios in Easthampton MA is an inspiring place to work. My recent oil paintings have focused on landscapes, painted on site in New England and New Mexico, on the intricate forms and expressive colors of flowers, and on scenes from the lives of birds. For me, painting is about capturing the energy of living things, whether it is a flower opening as it arches towards the light, the movement in afternoon clouds rising up over mountains, or the way a bird tips its wings to balance on a current of air. It is that underlying flow that I feel compelled to explore when I lay out a composition." |
